Course Description

Welcome to our Jump into the Arts programs! Here on Thinkific, you can find written guides for the different programs listed below; we also have a video guide for our Jumpstart the Art That’s in Your Heart program! Read through the different program options and see which one best fits your particular needs and circumstances.

Jumpstart the Art That’s in Your Heart program (half-day program / 2-3 hour program). This program helps participants to do the following:

  • realize how our Lord God is creative and artistic
  • identify the unique ways that the Lord has made them as individuals to be creative and artistic
  • brainstorm solutions for overcoming any challenges (e.g. time/scheduling concerns, financial constraints) they may encounter when trying to do the art that’s in their heart
  • develop an action plan to start participating in the art that’s in their heart!

It generally takes about 2-3 hours to complete the discussion sections of this program, depending on the size of your group; add another hour (approximately) if you would like to have your group participate in a visual or performing arts activity.

You can also find a video version of the Jumpstart the Art That’s in Your Heart program on this Thinkific site.

  • Recognizing the Benefits of Participating in the Arts
  • Overcoming Challenges in the Arts

This Jump into the Arts program can be completed in 10 different sessions that typically last 1.5 hours each (including a visual or performing arts activity), or the sessions can be combined so that there are fewer overall meetings.

Humberto the Humming Butterfly book/discussion questions. This book contains an inspirational short story along with discussion questions designed to help people of all ages (and particularly children/youth) to identify and do the art that’s in their heart! It generally takes about 30-60 minutes to read the book aloud and discuss the reflection questions, depending on the size of the group.

President and Founder

Dr. Hilary Burg

Jump into the Arts was established by Dr. Hilary Burg to provide avenues and reasons to participate in the visual, performing, and creative arts. Hilary Burg received a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Denver, and her doctoral dissertation focused on the experiences of families who participate in the visual, performing, and creative arts. As part of her research, Hilary explored the individual and relational benefits that people of all ages experience through participation in the arts; an interesting theme that emerged during the research indicated that participating in the arts positively impacts people’s relationship with the Lord. Hilary looks forward to investigating the multidimensional benefits of participating in the arts for many years to come!
